Thank you, Alice. I can’t tell you how many people say, What kind of a name is that? There was a time when I myself didn’t know. At polling places the clerks often say, I won’t even try to say your name.They don’t seem to fathom how foreign their own names sound in far away places. Or perhaps they don’t care. We live in our own particularities and don’t seem to worry much abut anyone else’s.
